You’re already in a pleasant pop trance when you notice that they’re not painting joyful pictures of boy meets girl. No, the songs on The Silent Generation deal with murder, political riots, war, death, and people going insane before they jump into the sea in botched suicide attempts. The album has gotten raves for their ability to bring light into even the darkest scenarios and the band’s blend of acoustic and electric guitars to create a sound that manages to be soothing

Conducting an interview with Keith Moon is rather like running a mental obstacle course with a megalomaniac (his manager's reference, not mine), with imminent danger to your own person. I have always felt that Moon should be made to wear a placard reading, "Those riding on this machine do so at their own risk." I also feel that he deserves, along with the Beatles, a monument to testify to his outstanding irreverence

Andrew Oldham is egotistical, talented, insulting, outrageous, and likeable almost in spite of himself. He manages the world's number two group, owns his own record company, produces discs, writes songs, sleeve notes, and poetry, and publishes the Beach Boys' music in Britain.
