Born of the British blues scene of the late sixties, Fleetwood Mac was named after two of its three members, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Peter Green helped form the band when he left John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in '67 and enticed first Fleetwood and then McVie into joining his new project. In 1968, guitarist Danny Kirwan was brought on board, and he had a large role in driving Fleetwood Mac into the easy, harmonious, California sound that became rather indicative of their music. The group also included guitarists Jeremy Spencer and Bob Welch. The band underwent a number of personnel changes through the mid-1970s, when Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham joined the group. The band became the premier rock group of the late 1970s, with hits such as "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way," "Don't Stop" and "You Make Loving Fun."...more
